Discover the Lives & Teachings of the Protestant Reformers

Erasmus is an enigma to many who study the Protestant Reformation. He side with the great reformers in opposing the abuses taking place within the Catholic church. However, he rejected Protestant theology and never actively opposed the papal system. He believed that rather than breaking with the Catholic church, it was better to try to reform it from within.

Erasmus was a strong believer in free will and vehemently opposed the doctrine of predestination.
